QC Community Hunger Drive Corporate Challenge

QCommunity Hunger Drive raises 319,283 meals

The QCommunity Hunger Drive Corporate Challenge, which engages local businesses and other organizations to organize fun activities to raise donations of food and money for River Bend Foodbank, ended on February 29th. This year, the QCommunity Hunger Drive engaged 34 businesses with over 7,000 employees.

“Helping coordinate the QCommunity Hunger Drive reminds me why I love the Quad Cities so much!” says Liz Treiber, Executive Director of the Quad Cities Student Hunger Drive . “The excitement I saw in February echoed that of the high schools during the Student Hunger Drive in the fall.  It’s awesome to see our community get energized about helping others.” According to Treiber, Student Hunger Drive was given a generous grant from the John Deere Foundation, of which a $10,000 match was made to the 2016 QCommunity Hunger Drive.

“We are so thankful to the 35 local businesses who made the inaugural QCommunity Hunger Drive a huge success,” said Mike Miller, Executive Director of the River Bend Foodbank. “They demonstrated the impact we can have if we all work together, and they had fun doing it,” he added. “We envision a day when every local organization participates, providing millions of meals, which will literally end hunger in eastern Iowa and western Illinois.”
